Rocky River Farmhouse
Early farmhouses were simple because they were constructed using readily available, cost effective materials and built by farmers and members of their communities.
This modern farmhouse tried to capture those elements on the exterior while creating some modern influences on the interior.
Reclaimed barnstones were used above grade, board and batten siding was used to mimic old clapboard siding and the front door and garage door had simple recessed paneling. The wraparound front porch was another early farmhouse component and we combined more natural materials, cedar to wrap the front porch columns.
The interior is rife with open space as the living room, eating area and kitchen are wide open and connected, while a soothing built-in reading nook accompanies the living room seating area. Reclaimed timber beams bring exterior elements to the interior making this a perfect modern farmhouse in beautiful Rocky River.
